What is 2-methylresorcinol?

2-Methylresorcinol is an aromatic dihydroxy compound belonging to the alkylated resorcinols group. It is mainly used as a raw material for resins, especially in the rubber and adhesive industries. Thanks to its phenolic structure, it readily participates in condensation reactions and helps form strong, heat-resistant bonding systems.

Properties:

2-Methylresorcinol appears as a white to light beige crystalline solid. It has good thermal stability and strong reactivity due to the presence of two hydroxyl groups on the aromatic ring. It is slightly soluble in water and soluble in alcohols and organic solvents. The product exhibits good compatibility with resins and rubber compounds and provides excellent bonding performance.

Application:

2-Methylresorcinol is mainly used in the production of resorcinol-based adhesion resins for rubber compounds. It is widely applied in tire manufacturing, rubber belts, hoses, and other reinforced rubber products, where strong adhesion between rubber and textile or metal reinforcement is required. It is also used in adhesives, coatings, and specialty resins.

Packing:

In 25kgs bag.

Storage:

Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place, in tightly sealed packaging, away from heat, moisture, and strong oxidizing agents. When stored under proper conditions in its original packaging, the typical shelf life is 1 year.
